Here are some of Rendezvous 2019 highlights.
Friday (Option #1 Drive) Details – This ride has it all! We’ll travel South of Eau Claire towards Arcadia, Wisconsin. You’ll experience stunning country road vistas through the ridges and valleys of Wisconsin’s unique Driftless Region. Once we arrive in Arcadia we will take a short guided walk through the Soldier’s Walk Memorial. This park is the largest of its kind you will see in the US outside of Washington, DC. After we complete our tour, we will take a short drive through the ‘River Bottoms’ and view ‘Rock Cut’ a geologic feature unique to the area. Then we will head back up the hill to lunch at Vino Over the Valley. At Vino, we will dine on a selection of salad, pasta dishes, and wood-fired pizza. Vino also will provide a lovely selection of wines by the glass.
After lunch, you will have options to continue slightly further south where you can view the magnificent Mississippi River or head back directly to Eau Claire. The choice is yours and we will provide directions and a timeline for both routes!
Option #2 Friday “Leinenkugel’s Brewery“ Tour with a private lunch at Paradise Shores Resort.Full Up (No longer available) Option #3 Friday “Cook Rutledge Mansion” Tour with a private lunch at Paradise Shores Resort.Full Up (No longer available)
Friday (Option #2 or #3 Drive) Details – We will travel North East of Eau Claire towards Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin where you’ll travel on country roads with lots of twists and turns while viewing, forest, rolling hills, valleys, creeks, and rivers. Once arriving in Chippewa Falls folks will join the tour of which you’ve selected.
Leinenkugel’s Brewery: On this tour, you’ll be introduced to nearly 150 years of beer brewing and six generations of Leinenkugel family history. The tour starts at the Leinie Lodge, which is filled with historical photos, vintage brewing equipment and plenty of Leinie’s wearables and collectibles. You’ll sample the award-winning beers and get the full flavor of all things at Leinenkugel’s.
Cook Rutledge Mansion: On this tour, you’ll step back in time to when lumber barons lived in the Chippewa Valley. You’ll be guided through the mansion by one of the three docents. Find out what life was like in the 1800s when lumberjacks, sawmills, saloons, riverfront hotels, and steamboats were here. This was an era when lumber transactions made a man a millionaire overnight!
Following both tours (Option #2 and #3 only) we will travel on more country roads with beautiful scenery to our lunch destination at Paradise Shores Resort in Holcombe, Wisconsin. They’ll be serving us a fantastic spread of soup, salad and sandwich buffet. Following lunch, we will travel on country roads back to Eau Claire while stopping at a local country winery.
Please Note: The Leinenkugel’s and Cook Rutledge Mansion Tour’s are full.
- UPDATE – We have added a Guided Tour Option for Saturday afternoon. (This will be for folks that do not want to participate in the Funkhana Skilled Driving Event.)
Saturday’s Guided Tour – Take a tour of the new Pablo Center downtown Eau Claire. Start at the new Eau Claire Visiting Center where there is art, food, and drinks. Then take the Guided Tour of the Pablo Center. After the tour, enjoy a little shopping downtown.
